日本語でも色を使った表現てありますよね。

黄色い声援、青息吐息、青くなる、真っ赤な嘘などなど、たくさんあります。

実は、英語にも色を使った表現がありますよー！

1. Green with envy

   • とても嫉妬している。
   • She was green with envy when she saw her friend’s new car.
   • 彼女は友達の新しい車を見て、とても嫉妬した。

2. Catch someone red-handed

   • 何か悪いことをしている現場を押さえる。
   • The thief was caught red-handed stealing the jewels.

   • 突然に、予期せず。
   • He decided to move to Canada out of the blue; no one saw it coming.

   • めったにない、非常に稀。
   • I don’t know why you’re buying so many lottery tickets. Winning is something that happens once in a blue moon.

5. White lie

   • 無害な嘘、他人を傷つけない小さな嘘。
